The Planning Commissioners will be reviewing Snohomish County’s proposed amendments to comply with Growth Management Hearings Board remand to better protect our water quality, salmon, and orcas.
Please send a message TODAY to tell the commissioners to recommend the strong protections by basing riparian buffers on the width of the riparian ecosystem estimated by one 200-year site-potential tree height (SPTH), or 200 feet, measured from the edge of the active channel or active floodplain – whichever is wider. These protections are based on science from the State of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The Planning Commission will hold a briefing and public hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Please consider showing up either in-person or remotely (over Zoom or by calling in).
More information on the hearing can be found online here.
Please feel free to share this action alert! You will be hearing more from us in the future as the process continues. For more information, contact Kristin Kelly.
