Tell the Senate Local Gov Committee: Vote NO on SB 6029!
It is critical that the Senate Local Government, Land Use, and Tribal Affairs committee votes NO on SB 6029 to prevent ADUs (accessory dwelling units) to be built in rural areas.
For over 30 years, Washington’s Growth Management Act (GMA) has served to prevent suburban sprawl and protect rural lands, family farms, and wildlife habitat from overdevelopment.
Why prevent sprawl?
- Washington’s family farms are the bread basket of our state, and provide valuable commercial exports that support our local economy.
- Vibrant riparian habitat protects the salmon runs that are cultural resource to tribes across Washington state, and that feed the orca population in Puget Sound.
- Rural communities rely on limited water resources to support their housing and local economy.
- Over-extending services like water and sewer increases costs for rate-payers.
- Concentrating growth in existing cities and towns reduces carbon pollution and shortens commutes.
Urge the members of the House Housing Committee to vote NO on SB 6029!
