Ask your legislators to be housing justice champions:
Vote 'YES' on HB 1220
Soon, the House of Representatives will vote on HB1220, a vital piece of legislation to address Washinton's housing crisis.
Communities across Washington are in a housing affordability crisis. 32% of Washingtonians struggle to balance housing costs with the rest of their expenses. Cities have a major part to play in ensuring housing is available for all income levels, and in encouraging more equitable housing solutions that address past inequities, particularly the impacts of racial covenants and redlining.
Contact your legislators and tell them that Washington Can't Wait to pass HB1220 to ensure cities and counties are:
1) Planning for a diversity of housing types to meet the needs of families at all income levels, especially our extremely low to moderate-income families;
2) Providing emergency shelters, emergency housing, and permanent supportive housing;
3) Implementing policies and strategies to prevent community displacement from market forces, and;
4) Implementing policies to address the impacts of racially-biased, exclusionary, and discriminatory housing and land-use policies on our BIPOC communities.
